In this episode of the Divi addicts podcast, we’re going to give you our top three WordPress website building tools. Welcome to the Divi addicts podcast, a podcast by Keegan Lanier Media, where we deliver news tips tricks on web design to education hungry entrepreneurs who are looking to change their life by starting full fledged business with web design. What’s up everybody? Welcome back to another episode of the Divi addicts podcast. My name is Keegan of Keegan Lanier Media. And today we’re talking about our top three WordPress website building tools. Now let’s just get clarity on what that is. I’m not talking about plugins in this episode that’s actually going to come in next week’s episode.
Keegan 0:45
What I’m talking about is actual frameworks for building a website. And there’s three of them we’re going to share with you today. One that you know it’s literally in the name of the podcast. Another one you may not know about. And the third one is baked into WordPress naturally. So without further ado, let’s jump right into the list. Number one, I think it’s obvious. It’s the Divi Theme or Divi Builder. Now if you are new to the podcast, make sure you hit the subscribe button so you can keep coming back and learning more about Divi and more about WordPress and more about business. But let’s define two different things that are a little bit confusing, especially if you just get into Divi for the first time.
Keegan 1:27
So there’s the Divi theme, and you install it like a theme you go under appearance inside of WordPress go to themes, you upload the theme, and when you put the theme in place it does come with the builder as well. So those are a package deal. Now that doesn’t mean that you need to use the Divi theme. You can use a different theme you can use the 2020 theme, you can use any other theme that’s out there. And then you can download the Divi Builder, which is a plugin where you just go to plugins and add new and you can install the Divi Visual Builder without having the Divi theme in place. It’s absolutely doable, and many people do it. But they are technically two separate things. The builder is the plugin the plugin is part of the theme. Most people just happen to use the theme. And there’s a million reasons here two plus years of content as to why I think the Divi Builder is amazing. And we won’t go into that if you’re interested again, hit the subscribe button, go look at the library of episodes that we’ve had the huge back catalogue catalog, and you can find out all the reasons why we think Divi is awesome.

Moving on to number two, is something we have been toying around with quite a bit actually in the process of trying to rebuild what we’ve built on the Keegan Lanier Media.com website, specifically in this builder, and it’s a little bit different. So it’s we’re using Oxygen Builder, and Oxygen right now you can purchase for $99. You can use it on unlimited number of websites. So if you’re a developer, and your code focused, not design focused, if you’re code focus, Oxygen may be something that you find a huge amount of interest in. It’s a cool builder, it’s bare bones, but you can do so many different things with it. There’s the structure structure panel on the right side, which allows you to move things around nest things inside of one another, you can add divs you can wrap things around. And what’s really cool is that it’s actually built with flex into it natively. For those of you know what that is, you know, it’s it’s a pretty big deal.
Keegan 3:37
You can change the layouts, you can do all kinds of crazy cool things. And we’re even considering documenting some of these things that we’re doing for fun inside of Oxygen builder to share on the YouTube channel and just put extra content out around that because it’s also it’s fun, right and playing around them experimenting. And I think it’s going to bring value to you because not everybody is going to like the Divi Builder and I understand that some you know there’s something to be said about how big the file, the Divi theme is now, how many resources it needs to run, it’s definitely a concern for certain sites and certain projects. Divi may not be the ultimate option, although it would work and it would do extremely well, it may not be the best option. So in certain circumstances, oxygen builder may be a very viable option. And in some places, in some cases with some developers, it may be the option so Oxygen builders we’re checking out we’re going to link it in the in the show notes below.

And then you know jumping into number three number three is one that’s baked into every single WordPress installation and as Gutenberg. Gutenberg has grown a lot over the last two years or so that WordPress 5.0 has been out or WordPress five, currently on 5.5 and some point releases below it. But Gutenberg has grown tremendously, just the same way that the Divi Visual Builder took a while for people to to really jump into and and for the adoption rate to go up. So has Gutenberg and Gutenberg really has a lot going for it. Most visual builders have integrated with Gutenberg. Now they have their own block. I know Divi does. And Oxygen builder definitely has its own block where you can create usable templates and then drop them into a Divi or Gutenberg block rather. And that just makes the capabilities of what websites can be so much cooler, like you can get creative and create all kinds of unique things. And the beauty of Gutenberg is that it’s included Now there are some, there’s some paid extensions, there are some some custom things you can do that would help but overall, it’s free.
