28: Draggable Sizing
In today’s episode we talk about draggable sizing. It’s the latest sneak peek feature from the Elegant Themes team on what’s coming up in Divi.
What’s up Welcome to Divi Addicts, a podcast covering the latest and greatest from the Elegant Themes team specifically about the Divi Theme and Framework. We hope that you’re amped for this latest episode. Without further ado, let’s just jump right in.
So this week, we got another great, I guess Sneak Peek, you know into what’s coming up what’s new with Divi and its draggable sizing. You know, if you I know I don’t have to ask if you do but knowing that you’re a Divi user, and not sure if you’re new to the Plugin Theme, depending on which one you use, or if you’re an expert, somebody who’s used it since day one. It’s hard to say because normally the new people are the ones who have embraced the Visual Builder, who have really jumped into what the future of Divi is going to be. And it’s some of the people who’ve been using Divi for quite a long time who are stuck in the back end builder.
I was one of those people who jumped into Divi very early. Back in the one point something released, I don’t remember exactly which one. But I was here when they launched to in 2.4. And I’ve seen Divi really, really evolve into something amazing. I mean, my opinion is the best name in the world. Best framework best builder. Just, it’s just awesome. I mean, it’s a great, obviously, I’m doing a podcast here. So I love the theme, right? That goes I think without saying. But if you’ve been in the theme for a long time, you may not have jumped into the visual builder. And if you’re just joining Divi, you’ve probably use the Divi Builder because of the perceived convenience. And I think it’s more than just perceived the Visual Builder is awesome. But you’re used to dragging margins and padding. You know, inside the Visual Builder, if you’ve hovered over the edges of sections or rows, you’ve seen the ability to change the padding and link the top to bottom padding and drag it all in real time. And that’s really cool. You know, it’s a, it’s a start.
But this week, Elegant Themes put out a teaser, their upcoming feature for draggable sizing across all the things, columns, which I’m assuming will control the gutter, maybe left and right padding and margin as well. But I don’t know how you’ll differentiate from those. But I think it’s still really cool, you’re going to it doesn’t matter, you know, let the let the builder decide what’s best. And just let us click and drag and put things where we want them to go based on how they look. So that’s really that’s really exciting. It’s something that I know we’ve all wanted, you know, to be able to really adjust the sizing, you know, between columns, which we can kind of do with Godot right now. But it’s not a very granular control. But there’s that there’s padding, there’s margins, left and right, up and down. I just think that they’re laying constant innovation into this visual builder. That’s going to tie back into the theme builder when they’re ultimately done.
So if you are one of those people who have been clamoring and really really waiting for the Divi Theme builder, to where we can drop Divi library layout into four or four pages into archive pages, I think that they’re doing you know, they’re showing good faith and getting to that right now Elegant Themes is laying the foundation, they’re putting all the pieces of the puzzle in place. So that very soon we’ll be able to look and have that theme builder and really be in a place where no one can question you know, is Divi the best. Oh, yeah. Divi is the best. And I think that will be zero question. So I’m excited about the new updates. It’s another one of the small ones. It’s nothing game changing. But it is setting the stage for something very, very amazing. So be excited. Check it out. As soon as it comes out. Keep an eye out on Elegant Themes YouTube channel, it will be out soon. And we as always, we’d love to know how you plan on using it. And when you get your hands on it, be sure to hit us up on Facebook Messenger and let us know.
