In today’s episode we discuss the future of Divi Addicts and say a massive congratulations to Divi Chat on episode 100.
Keegan 0:00
What’s up? Welcome to Divi Addicts, a podcast covering the latest and greatest from the Elegant Themes team specifically about the Divi theme and framework. We hope that you’re amped for this latest episode. Without further ado, let’s just jump right in.
Keegan 0:19
What’s up Divi Addicts, first and foremost, we’re here we’re in Episode Number 29. Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening again. But we’ve got to apologize for being a little bit behind schedule. You know, every once in a while the life just hits you, right? I’ve been down and out a little bit sick the last couple of days and will be hydrated a little flu ish. And so it’s a it’s kind of delayed the release of this week’s podcast, so we have to apologize. And when you’re bootstrapping, you know, sometimes things get interesting. When you’re a one man shop, sometimes things just happen. So I’m sure you can understand I’m sure you can relate. If you’re out there running a business and trying to do a startup, you know, as well as creating content, it can get a little bit interesting at times. Life is life. So that’s all we’re gonna say about that.
Keegan 1:09
We appreciate you coming back. We appreciate you being here on a little bit. Delayed timeline, but we still got plenty to talk about, you know, we want to talk first and foremost, we got to send a huge, huge, massive congratulations out to the folks over a Divi chat. If you’re not familiar with Divi chat will give you the quick rundown. So weekly, there is a live YouTube show that a couple of gents put together some really good guys, very committed very dedicated to the Divi space. No pun intended. David Blackman runs Divi space. He also runs Aspen Grove studios along with Cory Hammond. Sorry, Corey Jenkins getting my corys mixed up. Really, really awesome guys. And then there’s also Tim Strifler who runs Divi life and tons of great products from both companies including Divi overlays, Divi bars, Divi switch, Divi extras testify and a plethora of child themes and layouts, those guys just do some really amazing things, some amazing work. And I wanted to give a shout out to them and all of the panelists who’ve been on the show, but Episode 100 was really special for them.
Keegan 2:29
And a very special guest. If you’re familiar with Divi, their history or a little bit, you’ll know the name Nick Roach, Nick is the founder of Elegant Themes. And he was on talking about the past, the present, and the future of Elegant Themes is very interesting. You know, whenever you’re a lifetime subscriber, like I am, it’s really cool to get validation in here that, you know, not only have they gone through some of the early struggles that most of us are familiar with, they’ve, you know, pivoted quite a bit over the years changed up their model. And they’ve also, you know, got a pretty clear plan of where the future is going to what it’s going to look like and where they’re going to go, which is exciting for somebody who’s dedicated to them. You know, I’m, I’m very loyal.
Keegan 3:15
And I want to make sure that the investment that I’ve made in a lifetime subscription, and the commitment to those guys is going to pay off and continue to evolve and did the initiative, Divi design initiative 2.0, the continuation and release of all of these new platforms, platforms, new features on the platform, purchase, you know, their reaffirmation pretty consistently that elegantthemes is, is all about their people. They’re all about the community. And so I’m really excited and it was awesome listening to the episode to find out a little bit about the history and kind of where nixies elegantthemes going in the future.
Keegan 3:55
And with that, it’s a it’s a perfect time and a perfect segue to really talk about what Divi addicts 2.0 is going to look like I love the brand Divi Addicts, and I love the name. And you know we’ve we’ve seen our listeners continue to grow each week. Thank you, we appreciate you coming back. So for all of you, you know who have who have continued to listen, it’s awesome because you’re telling other people about it, because you hopefully you get in a little bit of value from this or maybe it’s entertainment, I don’t know, whatever the reason may be I appreciate you coming back and appreciate your listening. And there’s a couple of things that I’m dedicated to here.
Keegan 4:35
As you can tell if you’ve listened from early episodes, there’s always kind of a lot of background noise in in the Divi Addicts podcast. And that’s because each week like Divi and the web design and all the things that I’ve done in Divi with Keegan Lanier Media and with this podcast is done as a side hustle.
Keegan 3:55
You know we’ve talked a little bit about it in some of the very, very early up So it’s, it’s all 100% of side hustles. So I have a day job, a day job that I really enjoy, but it just happens to be an hour away from where I live. So two hours a day, I’m in my vehicle, you know, barring any kind of traffic incidents or anything like that, a minimum of two hours behind the wheel. So I get to consume a lot of Divi podcasts. You know, a lot of times I’ll have my phone plugged in, I’ll put it on the seat next to me and I’ll listen to YouTube videos, and just get the audio from all the Divi community, which is really cool. I’ve listened to every single episode of WP the podcast, I’ve listened to all of the latest Divi chats.
Keegan 5:39
So I consume a lot of content in the Divi space. And, you know, because I’m on the road, as I’m recording that also, before I hit, you know, put my car and drive, I hit record, and I just go to town here talking. And so it’s a you know, it’s one of those things that I’ve never really enjoyed listening back, because I’m a perfectionist, and I want this stuff to be of high quality. And I know how important audio is, as a former musician and drummer, I’m sort of an audio file, not, not to the extreme, but I want it to be clear, I want it to be crisp, and I want it to be delivered very well.
Keegan 6:19
And a basic lav mic plugged into my cell phone while I’m driving down the interstate is not what I would consider high quality audio. But you know, listening to guys like Gary Vee has made it made me realize that no one is greater than zero, doing something and putting something out there. It’s gotten me number one, you know, more comfortable talking in a podcast format, it’s gotten me more comfortable. just figuring out the logistics of a podcast and trying to grow it.
Keegan 6:49
The next level is to is to up our game here. I really want to help the audio quality. And I want to do this when I’m not driving. Although it’s audio and I’m really just talking like I would be singing the music or talking to myself, you know, there’s no, there’s no safety issues here. But there’s a lot it, it brings in a lot of road noise. Even though I have a pretty quiet car, it’s still I know that it translates into the audio a little bit and I want to I want to provide a better audio experience for you. So my role is going to change and I’m going to be less on the road and more stationary, we’ll have time to be able to do a higher quality and bring more microphones with me and I’ll be able to plug into the to the back book and really upgrade the quality of the audio which is exciting.
Keegan 7:40
With that. I’m going to take a little bit of time off of the Divi addicts podcast. So if you’ve been loyal to the podcast, I appreciate it. Please make sure that you hit that subscribe button because although this is the last episode for the season, this is not the episode The last episode of forever. I will be back and we will be back with new intros new outros better audio quality, and, and some some really cool topics and some good things to announce. Got a lot of plans for the next month or two with the Divi addicts as a brand as Divi addicts.com as a domain, and what that’s going to look like.
Keegan 8:20
So I want to say, for those of you who have been here and listen to all 29 episodes thus far. I truly appreciate it, I really, really, really appreciate the fact that you’ve come back I appreciate the feedback I’ve received. It’s just really really, really cool to see something that you’ve started grow. And we’ve done this for more than half a year. It’s It’s unbelievable. You know, that’s it’s crazy to think that we’ve done this for over six months. And that’s awesome to me. So consistently every week we’ve been here we’ve shown up you’ve shown up for us and you brought the feedback here so thank you for that.
Keegan 8:58
Again, if you want that weekly content hop over to YouTube or subscribe to Divi chat check those guys out and and really I think you’re gonna get some awesome topics from them also other huge shout out I mentioned it a second ago but check out WP the podcast. There are two guys who do this product who were heavily heavily focused. It is WP the podcast and they talk about a lot of things WordPress related not just Divi but their Divi guys, so they talk about Divi as well.
Keegan 9:29
So I’d highly recommend checking those podcasts out. And, you know, keep the subscribe going strong. And I promise you that we’ll be back much sooner than later. And we’ll be ready to come back here probably no later than January at the beginning of the year to get things go. And so we’ll go probably a two month hiatus and we’ll come back and we’ll kick this thing off even stronger than before with a more focused plan. Great details mean great articles that we’re going to be talking about our con i don’t even In other words, I’m trying to say great topics that we’re going to be bringing to you. That’s what was. So great topics that we’re going to be bringing you specifically related around Divi, because I know that there’s going to be some amazing sneak peeks. And there’s going to be some really cool releases that are coming up between now and the end of the year. So we’ll come back, ready to talk about how we put those into action. And I just come back to hang out with you.
Keegan 10:21
