What’s up Divi addicts? Welcome back to the podcast, where today’s episode, I’m sharing the single best tip to make your website work for you.
So before we get started today, I wanted to ask you to wherever you’re listening to the podcast, smash the subscribe button, that way you get notified of any episode that’s coming up. Today, what we’re talking about is calls to action, right? I told you, I was going to give you the single biggest tip to make your website work for you. And that is having a clear, concise goal and call to action. So how many times if you’re if you’re a website developer, picture this, you’ve got a client, and that client comes to you, and they say, I want something that’s sleek and lean and minimal and very clean. And then before you know it there, well, I like this, and this and this and this and this form here and this call to action here. And I want to get people to sign up here. And I want to get phone calls here. And it’s so many different goals, so many different things that there’s no real clearly defined purpose for your website.
You know, it happens all the time. It happens where we allow them as developers, we allow somebody to turn this into a brochure and have essentially a collection of everything that they’ve got to drive business, all living within their WordPress website. And that is a recipe for disaster because people don’t know what to do, what is important, where do I need to go. And that that should be very, very plain and simple, it should be outlined very clearly. And without them even having to think anyone visiting the site should know, this is what I’m supposed to be doing when I’m here. Or if I’ve seen information on Twitter or Facebook or Instagram or wherever that has led me to their site. Whatever that information is that’s on that other site on a social media platform, it should be pretty clear as to where I need to go to fulfill what was promised over there.
So websites can easily be really convoluted. And they can grow to include way too many things that just confused the person who’s coming to your site. So this one will be a short episode, there’s no way to say it other than whenever you have a client, you need to absolutely have one clear, concise goal for what the website is going to do. That may be lead generation, it might be sales and conversion. And it may just be to teach people about your brand, whatever the reason is, that’s okay. But you cannot go and add a million other things for the client or the potential client to do because it’s just going to confuse them, they’re going to be in decision overload. And ultimately what’s going to happen is you’re going to get caught by something else that’s more defined and shiny, and it’s going to pull them from your site and you’re going to get a bounce rate that continues to go up. So make sure that you’re very clear, you’re very concise, and your calls to action stand out.
