In this episode we’re going to talk about starting a course for real this time.
What’s up Divi addicts? Welcome to episode number three of season seven, where we’re talking about starting a course for real this time. If you’ve been around for a while you’ve been around for multiple seasons, you know that we’ve done an episode about this before, we talked about dropping our very first course. And, you know, we failed in 2020, or sorry, in 2019, we failed in 2020, that’s going to look a little bit different 2019, we had the grand plan, we wanted to launch this course, and wanted to get it out there for all the people who were following us. And what we quickly realized is that we needed to go back to the drawing board, we needed to work on our content, we needed to build up our free material first, you know, we wanted to do a bunch more episodes, which we’re almost two years in on the podcast. Now, we wanted to put out some tutorials on YouTube and really start bringing people value for free.
Because I mean, how’s it How are you going to get out there and people realize who you are, and what you do, if you if you don’t have anything else out there. So we want to put some content out, gained a little bit of authority. And hopefully, more than anything, we wanted to provide some value. And that’s exactly what the course is going to do. But it’s going to be a little more structured. You know, we wanted to take some of the things we put out there on the YouTube channel, really put some thought behind it and massage the material and make it to where it flows. And it’s more like school where you’re gonna have building blocks that just continue to take you down that path. And in 2020, we’re absolutely going to do that, you know, we had an idea in 2019, we didn’t have the framework. Now we’ve built the framework.
We’ve used lifter LMS from Chris Badgett his plays platform is incredible. And we’ve built out this what I think is a really cool dashboard, and a very cool website in the academy that’s getting ready to launch within the next probably 30 to 45 days. So go to Academy, Keeneland, your media.com get us get signed up for the notifications that way. As soon as we launched this thing, you’ll be one of the first the first few people to know. So we take it all the way back to the beginning. If you want to start a course, there’s a few paths you can take.
The first one is go find a host, buy a domain, tie those together and then build your WordPress site on top of it using something like lifter LMS. If you’re interested and you want somebody else to do it, feel free to reach out to us at Keegan Lanier media.com. Email me Keegan at Keegan Lanier media.com. And we can have a conversation about it, I’m happy to help you figure out what you need to do to get down the road. We can do it for you, if you like really kind of whatever you however you feel about the process. And whatever your needs are, I think we can at least point you in the right direction and or help you out.
But those are that’s one option. You can go to a platform like Udemy or, you know there’s there’s tons of other ones out there teachable. You can use any of those platforms to share your message and share your knowledge. But starting a course can be something especially in this time. I mean, I don’t want to be another one of those people talking about or putting out headlines of the Coronavirus, but it is a real thing. And you know, with people being stuck at home, if you have a love or a passion for something, why not organize your thoughts, organize what you know about that topic, and create a course and maybe give it away war or put it for very cheap, you know, and that way people who are out there in this time, they want to feel a little bit of confidence. They want to learn something, they want to take advantage of the time that they have being pretty much locked down and learn something. Maybe they can learn it from you, you know.
So what I want to do right now is I’ve actually changed this if you listen to the last episode, I think there was a 50% discount on this course the course that I’m doing is the WordPress foundation course. And it was it’s going to be $49 once we launch, but for you guys for the Divi Divi addicts out there, what I want to do is drive you all to Keegan Lanier or Academy. Keegan Lanier media.com sign up, I just drop your email. And it’s going to tag each of you as somebody who’s interested in this course, in the launch of the Academy. And what that’s going to do is as soon as we launched this course, or as soon as we actually open up the Academy, I’m going to send you an email with a discount code that’s going to give you this WordPress foundation course for absolutely free $0 for you. So go ahead and sign up and if you get signed up before the launch, you’re going to get that course for free. No questions asked. No strings, just free information for you.
And that’s because like as a member The Divi addicts nation, as a member of somebody who’s been here and listening to this podcast, I want to make sure that I can do my part for you guys. And really, really just give it just give it to, you know, pay it forward, whatever you want to call it, I want to make sure that there’s value coming to you, because you guys have been loyal, you’re listening to this podcast on the regular. And even if you don’t, if this is the first time you just got very lucky, go into that website that’ll be linked in the show notes, sign up, and you’re going to get that course for absolutely free, as long as you sign up before we launch.
So starting a courses is really like, we could talk about the logistics and what we actually done, you know, we are in Google Drive, we’re laying out the entire foundation word by word transcript, style, and we’re putting it all in bullet points, by lessons by courses, or by lessons and buy videos rather. And then I’m just going to take those transcripts, and I’m going to go and sit in front of my webcam to talk to you in this mic, like I’m doing right now, record these videos, and then they’re going to go up on Vimeo or YouTube or some video hosting platform, I don’t know where they’re going to be just yet, but there’ll be hosted, they’ll be available in the course. And this information is going to be, like I said, free for you. But it’s going to be something out there to help anybody who is interested in starting a side hustle, or somebody who’s just not happy in their job, this is going to be a foundation down the road of WordPress and website development, that might turn into a passion for them.
And they be maybe the next business partner for you or for me, or just somebody who has a great idea and puts together a product that benefits our businesses, or just benefits the community as a whole. So I hope that you take this and really process the idea of starting a course it can be around anything, it doesn’t have to be WordPress, you can be recorded about any s classic games, you could be recording about pro wrestling, metal, music, whatever it is that you love, you can create a course around it, you know it, it’s out there for you. So just go ahead and take it.
For this week’s resource of the week, I’m going to drive you over to my absolute favorite hosting platforms blog. You know, you’ve heard me talk about Flywheel before the layout is what they call their blog. And it’s really, really awesome. I mean, they talk about topics from design to development, specifically to WordPress, in the marketing, and then just some general business tips. If you haven’t looked at the layout, absolutely go check them out. That’s one of those just really great resources where you can pick up a ton of knowledge and how you can really turn your business and your website around.
So to put a bow on episode 7.3, I really just have one thing to say. And that’s it to be safe. There’s a lot of craziness going on out there in the world right now. And this episode is going to come to you around March 31, March 30. And, you know, we’re recording this here on the 22nd. It’s, you don’t know how long this thing is going to last. So go out there. Be safe. If you have any questions if you need anything, any advice, feel free to email me Keegan, at Keegan, Lanier media.com. Just email me Say hi, ask me any questions you might have. And I can at least be of the opinion of someone who’s living this living through this on the other side. So I hope you all out there are having a great day. I hope that you’re staying safe and making great choices. And above all else, just be kind to the people around you. There. Everybody’s everybody’s having a hard time with this. So be kind be safe, and we’ll see you in the next episode of The Divi addicts podcast.
